Reunions with family members in Newtownabbey and Castledawson

View Northern Ireland by ferry; March 2013 on tiderace's travel map.

A great day which commenced with a hearty Ulster fry followed by a drive via Toome Bridge to Newtownabbey. Here we had a family get together with lunch all set up for us by Sarah Neill. The day was spent reminiscing about past exploits, particularly involving my father Sam with tales coming from his sister Isabelle and brother Bob. My father's early days as a Shipwright in Harland and Wolff certainly sounded interesting, as did the family experiences of wartime Belfast and the night most of the houses in the neighbouring street were flattened by bombing. Here's a photo of part of the afternoon line up....;

After a good fill and plenty of craic, it was back to Castledawson for more eats with the Overend family, plus cousin Hazel and nephew Robert. A great evening playing with the Overend children, Olivia and Jack, before it was my bedtime prior to my early start for home tomorrow.
